Social Media Issues Digital Art Piece
After watching a documentary about the negative effects of social media, we had to create an art piece about the issue using only digital media. I created a drawing on adobe illustrator of a person being taken over and controlled by their phone. I wanted to make a statement about how the things we read and see online consume us though algorithms, ads, news, social media addiction, and somewhat control our thoughts.
Rowley Film Movie Poster
After our trip to Rowley, the VAM 20s had to create movie posters for the VAM 10's film projects. I created this poster for Fractured Mind using many different design and composotion techniques using photoshop.
Rowley Ghost Town Photography
At the beginning of the year, we took a field trip to Rowley, Alberta, a ghost town with lots of worn down buildings. For this photography project, we had to take multiple pictures capturing our experience at Rowley.

Collage PaintingThis project involved creating a collage by ripping and gluing images from magazines and paper. After making the collage, we had to take a section of it, and paint it using acrylic paint. My biggest struggle was trying to paint the tiny details keeping clean lines, but I really like how the butterfly wings turned out.

Art History Project
For my art history research project, I chose Surrealism. We had to research, cite, and design a whole infographic and speech. We also had to design 4 vector graphic drawing using the program Adobe Illustrator and learn how each tool works. After 6 weeks of working hard at this project, I finished, and this is how it turned out.
Portrait Painting
For this assignment, we all had to create a portrait painting from a picture. This is a painting of my brother as a baby. First I drew the basic outline with pencil, then I added a light wash of colour, started layering up shadows and highlights, finally finishing off with final details. I found this assignment slightly difficult as it was my first time painting a big portrait of someone, but I tried my best and enjoyed the process of learning new techniques.
Who am I Mixed Media Project
Using multiple medias such as painting, gluing, drawing, etc, we had to create a unified piece of art that represented ourselves and who we are. We were also encouraged to include symbolism and include things that had a deeper meaning than what they were. For example, I included a tree in mine because I have a large family and trees are associated with family, life, and growth.
Pandemic Photography
These are the photos I took for our pandemic assignment. We had to take photos that captured the feeling and theme of the pandemic. Some of the images I took show the students working in class with masks on, the aftermath of the pandemic and how much waste is created from all the masks, people following arrows, and how we've had adapt to do our activities while having to stay distanced and protected.
Photography
For about two weeks, we spent our classes learning about different photography techniques such as minimum and maximum depth of field, and slow or fast shutter speed. These are some of my personal favourite pictures I have taken so far. I used the techniques learned in class to compose these photos and make each of them interesting to look at.
